Are your suits made-to-measure or bespoke?+
We do not make made-to-measure suits. We offer semi-bespoke and bench-made bespoke, both starting with a unique pattern drafted from scratch. Our semi-bespoke process is modelled on our bench-made approach, accommodating your style details, fit requirements, posture and body shape. It uses a production-based making process for a faster turnaround, with substantially less handwork. Handwork is reserved for where it is needed and for visible finishing details. Bench-made bespoke is cut, sewn and finished at our Toronto atelier by Ian MacMillan and is approximately 95% hand-sewn.
What should I bring to my first appointment?+
Bring your ideas, any photographs you like, and the date of an occasion if you have one. Tell us how you want to wear the garment and the budget you have in mind. You do not need to choose your cloth or tailoring service before you visit. The consultation is free and without obligation.
How much time should I allow?+
Allow around 10 weeks for a first semi-bespoke suit, and approximately 5 weeks for subsequent commissions once your pattern is established. Bench-made bespoke takes approximately 4–5 months. Share your event date at the first conversation so we can confirm what is possible before you commission.
Is the process the same for womenswear?+
Both paths are available for women, with dedicated staff trained in womenswear. The consultation, individual pattern and fitting process follow the same principles. Womenswear uses half-canvas construction in both tiers; menswear uses full canvas. The other construction and finishing details are the same.
What happens if the fit needs further work?+
We alter your garment until you are completely satisfied with the fit. In the very rare case that a remake is needed, we will remake it. Alterations are completed in-house. For men and women, alterations relating to weight loss or gain are covered for 12 months from pickup. After that, standard alteration prices apply. Styling changes, such as shortening a jacket or changing buttons, are charged separately.
