How much does a women's custom suit cost in Toronto?
Women's semi-bespoke suits start from $1,800, and bench-made bespoke suits start from $5,795. Your cloth choice determines the final investment, which we discuss at your consultation before you decide. Book an appointment to compare the options in person, with no pressure to commission.
Do you actually specialize in women's tailoring, or is it adapted menswear?
It is a dedicated practice. Our dedicated womenswear staff are trained to work with women, and we have sourced and curated fabric collections specifically for womenswear, chosen for how they drape. Your pattern is drafted from scratch from your own measurements, never adapted from a menswear block.
What can I have made besides a suit?
Alongside suits, we offer blazers, shirts and blouses, overcoats, knitwear, and custom shoes and heels. Women's footwear is custom, not bench-made bespoke. You can start with one piece and discuss how it will work with the clothes you already wear.
What is the process for a bespoke women's suit?
We begin with your wardrobe, style preferences and what you want to have made. More than 30 measurements and observations inform your individual pattern. You choose your cloth in person, then fittings refine the shape and fit, with alterations carried out in-house. Explore our process before your first visit.
How long does a women's bespoke suit take, and how many fittings are included?
A first semi-bespoke suit takes around 10 weeks, with subsequent commissions typically taking 5 weeks once your pattern is established. Semi-bespoke typically includes 2 fittings. Bench-made bespoke takes approximately 4–5 months with 4–5 fittings. Both include a basted fitting to assess the garment's shape and balance before finishing. Tell us your event date when you book an appointment so we can confirm what is possible.
What construction is used in women's suits?
We do not make made-to-measure suits. We offer two levels of bespoke construction: semi-bespoke and bench-made bespoke. Both begin with a unique pattern drafted from scratch for your style details, fit requirements, posture and body shape. Our semi-bespoke process is modelled on our bench-made approach. Specialist tailors work in a production environment for a faster turnaround, with substantially less handwork. The internals are machine-finished and the canvas is shaped by machine. Handwork is reserved for where it is needed and for visible finishing, including buttonholes, buttons sewn on by hand and external pick stitching. Bench-made bespoke is cut and made at our Toronto atelier by Ian MacMillan. Approximately 95% of the suit is sewn and finished by hand. Internal components are drafted, cut, shaped and attached by hand; only the long, straight seams are sewn by machine. Menswear uses full canvas; womenswear uses half canvas in both levels of construction. Both include a basted fitting.
Can I commission a suit for my own wedding?
Absolutely, and it is one of our favourite commissions. A bespoke suit made the exact way you want it, in cloth you chose by hand, is a powerful alternative to the dress. Tell us your date at the first appointment and we will plan the timeline around it.
I've never had anything tailored before. Where do I start?
Book an appointment at our Toronto tailoring house. Bring photos of looks you like, or simply tell us what you would like to wear. You do not need to arrive with every detail decided. We will guide you through shape, cloth and finishing details, and discuss pricing before you choose to commission.
